Styling agents uniquely derived from natural corn starch give lively definition to curls and waves without adding extra weight. A combination of protective Panthenols and magnesium sulfate give flexible, all day hold to your style without flaking or a “crunchy” feel. Apply to damp hair before styling for supple, manageable curls.
Ouidad’s Curl Conditioner

Voted Allure Magazine’s Best Conditioner for Curly Hair, Ouidad Balancing Rinse ($15) detangles hair and seals the cuticle for a smoother, more manageable style. This conditioner uses proteins, not oils, waxes or animal-fats, so it adds back moisture without weighing hair down. The lightweight formula makes it an ideal leave-in to beat frizz or protect hair during heat styling. Apply to the underneath layer of hair, working out to the top. Leave in two minutes to allow hair to absorb the protein, then rinse. You may opt to leave some product on the ends to prevent splitting. Alternatively, scrunch through damp hair before using your normal styling products for extra smoothness and healthy, bouncy curls!

Hit your hair with a refreshing burst of hydration with TIGI S-Factor Papaya Leave-In Moisture Spray ($23.99). This lightweight spray adds moisture to hair and gives your style a midday dose of energy. Soy protein and amino acids create a buffer between your hair and damaging factors like sun and wind, helping hair resist color fading. Be A Wax Artist!

Hair wax can add unbelievable texture and extreme definition- or, when used incorrectly, it can flatten your style in a matter of seconds! To apply hair wax without a hassle, try the following tips:
- Look for a water-based wax, like Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Wax ($3.99). It’s more pliable, which means no hardening or stiffness, and makes hair easier to style.
- Less is more! Scoop out just enough to cover the pad of your finger. Remember, you can always add wax as you go!
- Rub the wax between your fingers before applying to hair. This warms the wax, making it easier to apply, and also distributes it evenly across your fingers to avoid clumping.
- For “blown back” or softer styles, lightly run your fingers through the hair to shape. For more intensely defined styles, try putting a small amount of wax on both hands, gripping the section of hair you are styling, and sliding both hands down the section from root to tip with ample pressure.

Give your ‘do a mid-day (or midnight!) pick me up with Aveda Light Elements Reviving Mist ($16.99). This formula actually helps remove buildup and oil that have accumulated throughout the day to make hair feel lighter and refreshed. Spray on to reactivate styling products or prep hair for new styling. It’s even a great option when there’s no time to wash (but you really need to!). Your hair won’t be weighed down or flattened, just fresh and clean!

Indulge in another product in the popular Fresh Sake scent line with Fresh Sake Hair Cream ($26.00). This non-greasy formula helps control frizz and flyaways without making hair appear weighed down. Beyond beautifying your hair, this product uses anti-flammatory gotu-kola extract to encourage lipid production and discourage dry, irritated scalps. Hair is protected from the elements with antioxidant olive fruit oil, and grapeseed oil smooths and seals ruffled up cuticles. Apply to wet or dry hair for styling control and another way to enjoy the tart citrus scent.

Add intense shine to hair with The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Serum ($12.00). This product uses grapeseed oil, rich in fatty acids, to repair the hair’s moisture barrier, making it smooth and sleek. Moisture is added back into hair and scalp with sesame and jojoba oils. Revitalize dull and frizzy hair by warming a small amount of product in your hands, and then applying to the top layer of hair while styling. This serum can also be applied to damp hair used to protect hair from styling damage.
