Be A Wax Artist!

Hair wax can add unbelievable texture and extreme definition- or, when used incorrectly, it can flatten your style in a matter of seconds! To apply hair wax without a hassle, try the following tips:
- Look for a water-based wax, like Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Wax ($3.99). It’s more pliable, which means no hardening or stiffness, and makes hair easier to style.
- Less is more! Scoop out just enough to cover the pad of your finger. Remember, you can always add wax as you go!
- Rub the wax between your fingers before applying to hair. This warms the wax, making it easier to apply, and also distributes it evenly across your fingers to avoid clumping.
- For “blown back” or softer styles, lightly run your fingers through the hair to shape. For more intensely defined styles, try putting a small amount of wax on both hands, gripping the section of hair you are styling, and sliding both hands down the section from root to tip with ample pressure.
Rich Moisture At An Affordable Price

You don’t have to pay exorbitant prices for a rich, luxurious at home hair treatment. The Body Shop Brazil Nut Moisture Mask ($14.00) uses simple, natural ingredients to restore hydration to dry hair effectively. In addition to brazil nut, lanolin and sesame oil moisturize your hair while organic olive oil lends it’s protective properties to your scalp. The addition of organic honey in this product, another of nature’s fabulous moisturizers, provides income for beekeepers- a role that is increasingly being filled by women! Before you shampoo, scoop out a generous helping and apply to hair, leaving in fifteen minutes, or overnight if you choose. Rinse hair, then shampoo and condition as usual.
Kerastase Bain Satin

I can’t open a magazine without seeing Kerastase, so I’ve decided to get the scoop.
I’m on a healthy hair soapbox lately, and Kerastase’s Bain Satin fills the bill. Bain Satin’s shampoos and conditioners have Glyco-Active complex, which is glucose (to boost strength), protein (repairs and fortifies), and lipids (which protect the hair).
The system is super-easy to understand. The “dosage” of Glyco-Active are categorized from 1-3 according to how dry your hair is. 1 is for Normal to Slightly Dry, 2 is for Dry/Sensitized, and 3 is for Very Dry hair. Each category has shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments.
