Hair wax can add unbelievable texture and extreme definition- or, when used incorrectly, it can flatten your style in a matter of seconds! To apply hair wax without a hassle, try the following tips:
- Look for a water-based wax, like Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Wax ($3.99). It’s more pliable, which means no hardening or stiffness, and makes hair easier to style.
- Less is more! Scoop out just enough to cover the pad of your finger. Remember, you can always add wax as you go!
- Rub the wax between your fingers before applying to hair. This warms the wax, making it easier to apply, and also distributes it evenly across your fingers to avoid clumping.
- For “blown back” or softer styles, lightly run your fingers through the hair to shape. For more intensely defined styles, try putting a small amount of wax on both hands, gripping the section of hair you are styling, and sliding both hands down the section from root to tip with ample pressure.
